Discover San Diego's Premier Gravel Ride

The South Bay BREW-BAIX is a 100% FREE and 100% self-supported gravel ride in the South and East Counties of San Diego. Created with the desire to showcase everything that San Diego’s South Bay has to offer to the gravel community, this course takes you from the coastal views of the San Diego Bay to the rugged highs of Otay Mountain and back again, with lots of breathtaking sights and challenges in between.

The ride starts at Hannegan’s House Beer Co & Creamery located in the coastal area of National City and heads south east through the Otay Valley Regional Park, up and over the brutal Otay Mountain Wilderness via Otay Mountain Truck Trail and down into the tiny town of Dulzura. Once you leave Dulzura, you’ll head north where you’ll encounter a border patrol checkpoint. After that it’s east to the rugged terrain of Mother Grundy Truck Trail via Honey Springs, then to the scenic vistas and technical climbs of Barber Mountain ultimately climbing up to the top of Honey Springs Road. From there, it’s down into the thrill-seeking town of Jamul and onward to the fast and flowy single track along Proctor Valley road to the edges of Mount Miguel down to the Sweetwater Summit Regional Park. The home stretch takes you through Bonita’s Rohr park for some challenging technical dirt sectors back to the 54 bike path and finally back to the coast where the adventure began for some much-needed food, drinks and recovery while you share stories of your day with your fellow riders. This will most likely be several hours from when you left but don’t you worry, you won’t be the only one who chose to suffer!
